South Bruce Grey Health Centre set to reopen services at Walkerton & Chesley May 9th

The Walkerton Hospital Emergency Department will resume 24-hour service as of May 9th. The Chesley site will return to 8 acute care beds and 10 Senior Centre of Care beds as of that date.

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre approved a plan at a special meeting on April 25th that will see services reopen at both the Walkerton & Chesley hospitals.

The Board of Directors advises that a thorough assessment has been done in terms of type of staffing is needed to reopen. The range will include their dedicated staff team, agency & casual nurses, student externs and registered midwives.

The Walkerton Hospital Emergency Department will resume 24-hour service as of May 9th.

As well the Inpatient Unit at the Chesley site will return to 8 acute care beds and 10 Senior Centre of Care beds as of that date.

This is an expansion from the previously announced 4 accute beds that were reopened on March 21st.

The Chesley Emergency Deparmtent plans to return to 24-hour service on June 15th. This is the start of the next nursing schedule. South Bruce Grey Health Centre will monitor staffing over the next 5 weeks leading to that date to finalize the date of reopening.
