South Bruce OPP Responds to Community Concerns about Speeding in Underwood

Dedicated Patrols in the Area have resulted in 14 charges being laid and 4 warnings given for various infractions

The South Bruce OPP acting on reports received from community members about speeds of traffic around the Village of Underwood in Bruce Township have conducted a series of a patrols in the area.

South Bruce OPP along with members of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team conducted patrols between October 22nd and November 9th with over 13 hours of dedicated enforcement.

The following results were seen:

  • 12 drivers charged with speeding
  • 4 drivers stopped and warnings issued
  • 2 drivers charged with stunt driving

South Bruce OPP reminds motorists about recent changes to Stunt Driving legislation where by:

  • on roads with posted speed limits of less than 80 km/h and a driver is caught at 40 km or more above the limit it will result in a charge of Stunt Driving
  • driver’s license suspension now increased to 30 days
  • vehicle impoundment has increased to 14 days
