The 2023 Port Elgin Tankard and Scotties wrapped up with a pair of decisive wins on Sunday, sending two teams to the national championships.
Team Mike McEwan and Rachel Homan earned the right to represent Ontario at the 2023 Tim Hortons Brier and the Scotties Tournament of Hearts respectively. Each team lost just one game over the entire week.
In the men’s final, McEwan’s rink out of the Royal Canadian Curling Club bested Team Glenn Howard from Penetanguishene 8-3 in seven ends.
Homan, from the Ottawa Curling Club, won their final 9-2 over Team Hollie Duncan of Woodstock in eight ends.
Organizers said in a release that it was the “best Tankard/Scotties ever” and thanked all the fans, staff and sponsors that made it happen.
