Two local projects have been chosen as the recipients of funding through Ontario’s Rural Economic Development program.

The Municipality of Brockton will receive close to $12,000 to assist in the development of an app to improve communication with residents.

A cheque for almost $12,500 will go to Huron-Kinloss to create and install four murals in the downtown areas of Lucknow, Point Clark, and Ripley.

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says, the Rural Economic Development program was created especially for smaller projects that might not otherwise get funding.

The provincial government is committing $5-million in cost sharing funding under the next intake of the Rural Economic Development program, which opens on August 30.
