Unemployment Drops 0.6 Per Cent Last Month Locally

The unemployment rate across the region saw a drop of 0.6 percentage points last month, bringing the total rate to 3.6 per cent.

The Four County Labour Market Planning Board punched its monthly numbers for the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region which saw manufacturing as one of the industries taking the hardest hit followed by construction.

The bigger gains in employment were seen in fishing, forestry, mining, quarrying and oil and gas.

The local labour force also dropped by 2500 last month bringing the total from 162,700 in September to 162,200 in October.
