Unemployment rate increases 0.1% in April to hit 6%

This is the highest point it has reached since April of 2021. Provincially the unemployment rate decreased 0.2 percent to 5.1%.

The Unemployment rate for the Stratford Bruce Peninsula Economic Region increased by 0.1 percent in April to hit 6% in the latest job numbers report released by the Four County Labour Market Planning Board.

This is the highest point it has reached since April of 2021.

Provincially the unemployment rate decreased 0.2 percent to 5.1% both unadjusted for seasonality.

Overall net employment in the region increased by 2,000 of which most of the gains were part-time positions at 1,500.

Goods producing sectors gains of 3,600 jobs were offset by a loss of 1,600 in the professional, scientific, and technical services sector.
