The United Way Bruce Grey has partnered with Its Personal Period, a grassroots committee in Grey & Bruce to advance menstrual equity in the region by addressing the impact period poverty has on the dignity & health of those who menstruate.

In the 2021/22 Ontario budget, the government made a 3-year commitment to provide 6 million menstrual products per year to school boards.

It is estimated this doesn’t meet the demand with it breaking down to just 10 pads per student, per year.

Gore Mutual Insurance donated $10,000 in December 2021 in support of the program with Kristin’ Pharmacy in Southampton working lockstep to arrange a wholesale purchase.

Menstrual products can be found in libraries across Bruce & Grey.
