United Way of Perth Huron are marking National Volunteer Week by recognizing some of their own.

National Volunteer Week goes all this week until Saturday and the theme for this year is “Volunteering is Empathy in Action”.

In a news release, the chapter is honouring 12 volunteers with the Volunteer Spirit Awards: Darren Boyle, Marian deWever, Pam Hanington, Barbara Kane, Geoff Love, Kate Procter, Kim Richardson, Kim Ross Jones, JoAnn Todd, Kayla Vandenberg, Kathy Vassilakos and Paul Williams.

They say the hard work by these individuals helps ensure more than 37,000 vulnerable people in Perth and Huron have a chance for a brighter future.

United Way Perth Huron also wanted to thank fundraising campaign co-chairs Rob and Leslie Edney for their work over the last seven months.
