As United Way Perth-Huron is getting closer to opening up the Northern Huron Connection Centre in Wingham, local support for the centre continues to be seen.

Both Royal Homes and the Maitland River Community Church have donated $10,000 and $30,000 respectively to the North Huron Connection Centre.

Lisa Harper, United Way’s manager community development for Northern Huron says as the cost of everything rises, already vulnerable people are hurting much more.

The connection centre will be similar to what is seen in North Perth with HOPE Links offering the most vulnerable a place to rest, access basic needs and healthcare services.

There is hope to have the centre open in April next year.
