A group of local Mildmay area residents have planned to hold a vaccine passport protest tonight in Milday.

The organizer, Ashley Grant, says she grew up in the town and is highly involved in the community assisting with Fall Fairs, Sports of kinds and assisting neighbours.

She says the introduction of the Covid-19 passport has made it seem that the importance of community seems to be drifting away along with the gradual removal of human rights.

She and her family are planning to attend the protest at the Mildmay recreation Complex. She invited those who feel like she does on the topic to attend to join her.

Mayor of South Bruce, Bob Buckle, who we reached this afternoon had this to say on the topic of the possible protest in the community.

“The first I heard about it was yesterday afternoon on Facebook. The office staff has nothing to do with this rally and only know about it from Facebook. The municipality has not organized this at all. This is being done by a private individual.”

“The public can express their opinions about different laws, regulations brought forward by the provincial, federal or municipal governments. They have the full right to express their viewpoints through rallies if they wish to do so.”

“I expect they will adhere to all the regulations that all the provincial government have in place. It is very disheartening that people do not adhere to these different regulations set in place to try and control this virus which can be very deadly.
