The Northern Tornado Project (NTP) is investigating after a waterspout made landfall in Sauble Beach Wednesday, causing damage to several homes in the area.

The Sauble Beach Fire Station says they were called out around 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday August 31 in response to a possible  tornado. There was sporadic damage over a two-kilometre stretch in the north end of town, as several houses reported damage due to power lines and large tree limbs being down.

The NTP says preliminary results show the tornado was an EF0, the weakest kind on the Enhanced Fujita scale and caused damage along a narrow path about five kilometres long. They will continue investigating to determine what exactly occurred.

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula says their resources were able to meet the needs of the community without requiring assistance from neighbouring towns.
