Wiarton Willie Prediction to Be Virtual with No In-Person Attendance

Reasons Given by the Town of South Bruce Peninsula include Spread of Omicron and Public Health Concerns

It’s seems Wiarton Willie has adopted technology for another year and will predict the departure of Winter virtually on February 2nd.

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula made the announcement today that due to Covid-19 concerns in regards to the Omicron variant and public health concerns that the annual Wiarton Willie Festival for 2022 scheduled for February 5th has been cancelled.

The Organizers hope that the festival can return in it’s usual in-person format and all the corresponding tourists next year.

Mayor of South Bruce Peninsula Janet Jackson says in the release that “the decision to alter our event was inevitable, however the safety of our residents and staff is of the utmost importance.”
