The Wingham & District Hospital Emergency Department saw its temporary closure expanded late Friday due to the ongoing nursing staff challenges.
The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance closed the ED at 1pm today as opposed to 5pm as previously announced.
The weekend closure was also expanded with it closing Saturday, September 2nd at 5pm and now not re-opening until Monday, September 4th at 7am.
It would also close next Friday, September 8th from 5pm until 7am the next morning.
LWHA says they understand how disappointing the extended closure is on the community as well as to their staff & physicians.
Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.
EMS will remain available to the community and re-route them to surrounding hospitals.
