$260,000 Lost in Fraud in South Bruce for 2024

South Bruce OPP continue to see a series of fraud reports across the region.

Since the start of the year, OPP have gotten 74 reports of fraud which has amounted to $260,000 in lost funds.

Scams most common to the area typically involve providing gift cards, etransfers or with crypto and can occur online from marketplace and buy and sell groups.

Police urge residents to never provide gift card numbers over the phone or online and to be very cautious of the cryptocurrency market and to do your own research.

Scammers can often be very convincing who can clone phone numbers and appear legitimate on your caller ID.
