Norfolk County OPP is warning and reminding the public to be extremely careful when sharing images and videos over the internet.
On Monday, August, 1, 2022 at approximately 11:21am, OPP were contacted by a resident reporting an extortion.
It was determined that a Norfolk County resident met an unknown female online and both began to correspond.
While conversing online explicit pictures were shared with the individual.
The victim was then contacted by the same female demanding that over $2,000 be sent to them or the pictures would be shared on social media platforms and with the victims family and contacts.
The victim realized they were being extorted and immediately contacted the police.
