The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has issued a level 1 Low Water Advisory for the Ausable River watershed.
This comes due to below normal precipitation and dropping stream flow conditions.
July saw drier than normal conditions across the affected watershed and only about half of the expected monthly rainfall received.
Recent rainfall has provided some relief but not enough to improve overall conditions.
Christie Brown, ABCA Water Resources Technologist says they need sustained, widespread rainfall to help recharge the watershed and support lasting improvements in stream flow conditions.
Without above normal rainfall this month, stream flow levels are expected to stay below seasonal levels and could continue to drop.
