The Alexandra Marine & General Hospital is preparing to work with consultants to commence a Master Plan Process to vision a comprehensive healthcare plan for the region spanning the next 30 to 50 years.

With the lifespan of a hospital estimated at 50 years by the Ministry of Health and the current hospital built in the 1940’s, one of the elements being considered is the need for a new hospital.

In addition to consultants, AMGH will also be collaborating with the community, municipality, and other stakeholders in the development of the plan.

The process of constructing a new hospital is likely a decade or so in length, so the existing Goderich hospital will need to continue to function effectively. And add in the recent approval for an MRI unit for the site, and the funding needed to make it a reality it underscores the importance of ongoing community support for AMGH both now and in the future.
