Area Rotary Clubs see Success in Annual Winterama Events with Local Schools

Students in areas of Southampton, Tara & Port Elgin travelled over 49,000 kilometers in their activities in Winterama, or 1.23 times around the world. GC Huston school itself went over 12,000. They had 1260 total participants.

The Rotary Clubs of Southampton, Tara and Port Elgin are celebrating celebrating the completion of another Fun & Fundraising Winterama event.

It is an event held in February each year for the benefit of local schools and Youth in their areas.

Dave Bertrand from the Southampton Rotary says what it entailed.

“Kids collected km’s doing various winter activities. They added their km’s to a website donated by NPX. They were able to track how they were doing relative to classmates, the school and other schools.”

When all was said and done all of the students travelled a total of over 49,000 kilometers in their activities in Winterama, or 1.23 times around the world.

GC Huston Public School in Southampton itself went over 12,000 kilometers.

They had 1260 total participants.
