A Bluewater resident has lost $60,000 to a romance scam.
OPP say this incident involved on dating app with an unknown person claiming to have financial problems and needing help.
The fraudster convinced the 58 year old victim to send multiple e-transfers and bitcoin ATM deposits over a 3 month period bringing the total lost to $60,000.
Huron County OPP say between August 30th-December 29th police have gotten 11 reports of significant fraud across the area with nine of the cases being invested in the stock and in crypto while two others fell to the romance style scams.
