OPP West Region are reminding residents to be careful when it comes to place your trash to the curb for collection.
Thieves are able to look into what you received for Christmas just by driving by and looking at gift boxes placed at the curb for pickup with criminals being able to see which houses will be better targets based on what’s been left at the curb.
Police say thieves often look for the easiest target with the biggest, quickest return.
OPP say its best to take boxes of large ticket items to a recycling depot, shred receipts and financial documents and arrange to have a trusted person gather your garbage cans if you’ll be away.
