Bruce Power are funding two large scale projects that aim to further reduce their carbon footprint.

They announced a three-year partnership with ALUS Canada that will see $900,000 go into their New Acre Project.

The project will see development of land across Bruce and Grey including a minimum of 600 acres of nature-based projects which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,
sequestering opportunities on marginal lands, as well as biodiversity and water quality improvements.

The other is Sustainable Forestry – Ontario where Bruce Power have entered into a non-binding agreement with Bluesource that would support Bruce County’s long-term commitment of its 12,800 acres of land that had been devastated by over-harvesting and land-clearing for development.

They say the project will generate over 150,000 offsets over its lifetime through sustainable practices.

Bruce Power also says they are dedicating a portion of program funding to public education initiatives to continue a community conversation regarding the benefits of carbon reduction and carbon sequestration projects.

The funds come from their Carbon Offset Accelerator Fund.
