Councilor Avoids Punishment Following Integrity Commissioner Report

Kincardine councilor Bill Stewart has avoided punishment after an integrity commissioner report which came after a claim Stewart had breached the municipality’s code of conduct.

The commissioner, Jeffrey Abrams reported to council on complaints by a member of the public and three council members which stemmed from his conduct during a discussion on the decommissioning of the Secord Monument.

The complaint alleged after the decision was made on the decommission, Stewart had refused to accept the decision and alleged to have twice sent letters to the editor to the Kincardine Record which were inappropriate and inflammatory.

Council accepted the report but rejected a recommendation to suspend Stewarts pay for one week.
