The South Bruce Grey Health Centre is closing two emergency departments this weekend, due to a critical shortage of nurses.

The Walkerton ED will be shut down overnight tonight and Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. and reopening at 7 a.m. the following day.

The Chesley ED will be closed all of Sunday, with the doors locking at 5 p.m. on Saturday and reopening at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19.

Chesley is already closing their emergency department nightly due to staffing shortages.

The health centre says all efforts to find staffing were undertaken, without success.

Ambulance by-pass will be undertaken to divert patients to the nearest open ED.
