Education strike shouldn’t impact local school boards

As the provincial government attempts to force an agreement on education workers this afternoon to avoid a strike, local school boards say any potential job action shouldn’t impact their operations.

The Avon Maitland District School Board says none of their workers are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, so they won’t be impacted at all.

Members of the custodial and maintenance staff of the Bluewater District School Board are CUPE members, but not educational assistants or ECEs. In a statement their communications officer noted that they are closely monitoring the provincial scenario but do not anticipate any impact to school. If anything changes, they will send out a communication.
