Erinn Lawrie, Executive Director of the Lake Huron Coastal Centre and Chair of the Town of Goderich Environmental Committee of Council spoke at the Mayors Luncheon Yesterday and spoke on the topic of environmental protection including the groundbreaking implementation of electric vehicles in the Municipal fleet.

“We are the first in the County to have electric vehicles in our fleet. We have 3 in our fleet. We are hoping to keep expanding that. We have also installed quite a few electric vehicle charging stations to make sure we are a destination people can come to with their electric cars.”

Lawrie says the environment is a challenge including the tornado in the area’s   past and the repairs that have been needed to the shoreline in light of erosion. Things such as planting native plants and revitalizing the dunes again are the next step in the process.
