Five students were recognized at the Canadian Nuclear Association conference last week with the inaugural Frank Saunders Memorial Awards for Nuclear Excellence.
Presented by the Nuclear Innovation Institute and Bruce Power, the award celebrates emerging talent in the nuclear sector and to encourage the next generation of innovators.
Saunders was the founding President of NII and a long time executive of Bruce Power who died in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of leadership.
The 2025 Frank Saunders Memorial Award Recipients are:
- Abdalrahman Alasadi, McMaster University
- Andrea Ionel, McMaster University
- Siddhant Khanna, McMaster University
- Tannis Lubiniecki, Northlands College
- Divleen Ruprai, University of Waterloo
Each of the five recipients received a $1000 cash award for their essays.
Jessica Linthorne, President and CEO of NII says Frank dedicated his career to advancing the industry and inspiring future leaders and that belief led him to help establish the Nuclear Innovation Institute.
