The Town of Goderich announced on Tuesday that starting September 1st, 2023 overall responsibility of the Maitland Recreation Centre, Memorial Arena, Bannister, Columbus & Victoria Parks will be transferred to the Town of Goderich.
The change comes after the Town undertook a Community Recreational Needs Assessment in 2021 and contemplation of a new Operating & Management Agreement with the YMCA.
The current agreement expired earlier this year. The YMCA will continue to maintain responsibility for recreation memberships, aquatics, wellness & fitness programming, day camps and the booking of the gymnasium & squash courts, childminding services and the walking track at the MRC.
