With Goderich’s downtown undergoing a major reconstruction next year, there is some questions still be raised around parking over the course of the work.
This past summer the town put up a survey around parking needs and the usage across downtown but prior to the survey a decision for parking was already made with not having angle parking.
Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet says while one thing they intend to do going forward is enforce the parking rules more and get more parking spots to open up.
“That means the people who work at the County Courthouse we are now as you now, looking across from the Legion they have dug that up, packing it down and paving it. That will be a parking lot with 42 spots so the idea is provide parking for staff and people who work at the courthouse. That will open up parking for people on the square.” said Bazinet.
Council shot down the idea of angle parking at Courthouse Square during a meeting in May this year.
