The Mayor of Goderich John Grace held his Annual Luncheon on Wednesday to provide businesses & organizational leaders in the area with an update on municipal activities relevate to the business community.
The event, hosted by the Huron Chamber of Commerce gave the Mayor a chance to look forward in his speech entitled “Goderich: Moving Forward with Purpose & Balance”.
“I think it’s about the future, and what the changes need to be for our community and rural Ontario to not only sustain but to also grow. I think we’ve laid the foundation for that to happen and we are proud of where we are today post Covid so it’s time to move on.”
“It’s true in order for our economy to grow and even sustain we need to have affordable housing. The market housing and high-end housing will automatically come. We can’t service our restaurants, service industry without affordable housing. That’s a top priority.”
“If you walk out side and the two white cars are electric cars. We are the only community in this region that have electric cars. We have 3 of them. We are not going to stop we are going to grow those assets. The environment is important to council and to the community.”
There were also two guest speakers; Erinn Lawrie, Executive Director of the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation and Chair of the Goderich Environmental Action Committee and Mike Maxwell, President of Maxwell Building Consultants and an affordable housing advocate.
