Given the ongoing flu and illness season, the Hanover and District Hospital Emergency Department has been seeing a heavy amount of patient volumes and longer wait times.
The hospital says a number of patients who require admission are waiting in the ED for inpatient beds, limited their capacity to see new patients as quickly as they’d like.
Officials are reminding visitors that emergency care does not operate on a first come, first serve basis with patients being prioritized based on the urgency of their condition.
Those who’s condition is not an emergency are being asked to consider visiting your family doctor or use telehealth or virtual care services.
