If you’re a Hanover resident who has had their licence plate stolen, police say you’re not alone.

The local police are investigating after several plate thefts have been reported at random locations throughout the town.

They’re asking everyone to periodically confirm that license plates are attached to your vehicles and trailers, and also to make sure they haven’t been swapped out with someone else’s.

Police say license plate switching is common practice for vehicle thieves in an attempt to avoid detection.

If anyone has information about these thefts, contact the Hanover Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
