The County of Huron has announced 16 recipients of its annual Supporting Local Economic Development Program.

The funding is meant to support economic impacts for business including re-engagement, education, attraction of workforce, impact business districts, advance community & tourism development and help build a stronger sense of community with youth and/or newcomers.

Recipients are:

  • Seaforth BIA | Lights for mural and butterfly garden.
  • Bayfield Lion’s Club | “Two Cow Barn” to display a Penhale Landau carriage
  • Cultural Collective SH
  • Eat Local Huron | Hosting farm crawls
  • Exeter & District Heritage Fund
  • Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health | To support the SHARP program
  • Goderich Celtic Festival | To feature “Loreena McKennit” international recording artist at the 31st annual Celtic Festival.
  • Goderich Little Theatre | Festival of One Act Plays
  • Goderich Tourism | The 3-day salt fest
  • HC Food Distribution Centre | Welcome food boxes for newcomers to Canada
  • Huron East | A guidebook and audio component for existing walking tours
  • Huron Waves | The GAIA display in Exeter
  • Kingsbridge | To host a two-day event in conjunction with Taste of Huron
  • North Huron | Wingham Art Markets is a project focused on displaying local artists and their art.
  • Pioneer Park 1 | Summer of 2023 entertainment and programming that will advance community and tourism development.
  • Zurich Bean Festival | A roof replacement of the Bean Kitchen.

The grants awarded totaled $100,000.
