The Kincardine Airport had a larger than usual visitor fly into the area with the arrival of a Calm Air passenger plane on Tuesday.

The plane, which can hold 62 passengers was visiting with people for Bruce Power says Airport Manager Stephen Rouse.

“It was a group of people going to the Bruce Nuclear Plant. They spent the day. They arrived in the morning, were taken up there by motorcoach, and returned at 3:30 pm and flew out.”

In terms of the size of the aircraft, Rouse says that the facility is able to handle some larger aircraft.

“It was a bigger plane. We have had the Hercules in here all the time too. It isn’t totally uncommon.”

In terms of determining the maximum size of plane that can fly into the Kincardine Airport, there are factors at play that determine and limit the size and type of aircraft.

This can include weather & sky conditions, visibility and more.

It is at the pilot’s discretion.
