The Municipality of Kincardine passed a motion at last nights council meeting to provide 500 garbage bag tags to the Kincardine Food Bank at a cost of $1,750 to the Municpality.

The motion was initiated by Councillor Beth Blackwell and was done to support low-income residents as they are disproportionately affected by inflation & rising living costs.

Councillor Blackwell says they will be used when needed.

“When people are able to come in and they ask them what is is that they need they can ask them if they need bag tags or not. The 500 number is a kind of estimation. If they are seeing a big up tick in need they can always come back and talk to us if they are in need of more.”

The move was funded by the Community Investment Grant Program.
