Changes are coming to the Kincardine and Community Hospital’s Emergency Department.

The hospital foundation says today’s ER’s are cramped with double or even triple duty as well as a lack of basic infrastructure such as sufficient electrical outlets.

The Kincardine ER is expected to double in size with the scope of its work with dedicated rooms for mental health crisis, fractures and resuscitation.

The ventilation system will also be upgraded to meet current hospital standards and new telecommunication fibre will allow patients and doctors to communicate with a specialist in another town of city.

This is all part of the major upgrades for the hospital which has not been done in 33 years.
