Kincardine Council has voted against covering the cost of janitorial services at the Hawthorne Community Clinic.

At the meeting on February 14th the issue came up as part of the clinic working on renewing their 5 year lease agreement.

The Kincardine Family Health Organization put the request for the municipality to fund the janitorial services at an annual cost of $35,000.

Councillor Dorne Fitsimmons says residents have done enough to support physician recruitment in the area.

“I think the taxpayers have done more than their share  as far as supporting the doctors. I have a tendency to keep on the same track with the last two votes and I don’t think I’ll be supporting this.”

The request was rejected but Council did approve the remainder of the lease without modification.
