Local Leaf Alumni Larry Jeffrey passes away at the age of 81

The Goderich native started his NHL career in Detroit before later joining the Maple Leafs. It was in Toronto where he won the Stanley Cup in 1967.

The hockey world and Toronto Maple Leafs fans around the world are mourning the passing of former Leaf Forward Larry Jeffrey.

Jeffrey, who hails from Goderich, began his NHL hockey career career in Detroit with the Red Wings in 1961. He also played with the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs.

It was with the Buds that Jeffrey won the Stanley Cup back in 1967.

Jeffrey retired from hockey in 1969.

Larry Jeffrey was 81.

No funeral arrangements have been announced as of yet.
