We have had quite the experience with weather this week and over the last 12 months.

Kincardine weather specialist Nick Small (left in photo) appeared on the morning show this week to talk about why we are getting some of the severe weather that has been happening.

In particular, he explains why the shoreline was spared the brunt of a winter storm that hit regions of southern Ontario Monday.

Small says in order to get a blizzard, there has to be four hours of continuous snowfall, four hours of sustained winds, and four continuous hours of reduced visibility.

He adds tornadoes in our region is rare but the one that touched down in the Point Clark area last year did create quite a visual pattern with dark circular clouds forming above the lake.
