A former Guelph Storm player is continuing to do his part in raising money in memory of lost team mate to suicide.
Garret McFadden started his movement in September 2016, a non profit to support mental health which strives to change, help and develop mental health among athletes starting at the grassroots level.
McFadden says the loss of Wes Cameron was one that affected his family greatly.
“Saw a lot of him in me and could definitely relate to him. When his family started Wes For Youth, I was playing for the Storm at the time we we’re pretty involved in the community. We had an opportunity to use my platform to create something good and raise as much money as we could.” said McFadden
The movement reached a new milestone in 2022 with a $25,000 donation to Wes For Youth with the numbers continuing in recent years.
To date, the Movement has brought in over $158,000 for mental health resources.
