A Meaford man is facing charges after illegal moose hunting.

On October 13th conservation officers were conducting a moose decoy operation on Lac des Mille Lacs, around 120 kilometers west of Thunder Bay.

Officers addressing the ongoing issues with illegal hunting methods included moose shot from motorboats.

The Meaford man was using his boat and had positioned in proximity to the moose decoys when a Kitchener man then shot his rifle at the decoys.

The Meaford resident plead guilty in court for using a boat to kill, injure or harass wildlife and given a fine of $5500.
