Doctors, nurses, and other health care providers in the region are being asked to watch for any potential cases of monkeypox.
The Ministry of Health has issued an order that was distributed regionally through the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
The Ministry says they are closely monitoring the situation.
There have been five reported cases in Quebec and one potential case in Ontario where a man in his 40s had recently been in Montreal.
Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Doctor Kieran Moore says transmission between humans is rare but can occur through bodily fluids or lesions.
He says people who are suspected to have monkeypox should self-monitor for symptoms for 21 days.
