The Neyaashiinigmiing 36th Annual Traditional Pow Wow begins with a bang this weekend, with a fireworks and drone show taking place on Friday night.

The Aug. 19 Musicfest at Cape Croker Park will also have performances by Hoochman (aka Kevin Lavalley), Gordie Nadjiwon and Painted Sky. The event runs from 5:30 p.m. until sunset on Friday.

Celebration Coordinator Shawn Nadjiwon says they’ve secured 100 drones for the show and will be making designs of cultural significance to the Indigenous community.

That will lead into the Pow Wow on Saturday at the same location. There will be grand entrances at noon and again at 6 p.m.

They are still looking for volunteers, to learn more, visit here.
