The Ontario Nurses Association expressed outrage that the Ford government is appealing a court decision to strike down Bill 124, a law that capped wage increases for Public Service employees by 1% annually.

In late November, Ontario’s Superior Court ruled the provincial legislation violated the right to free collective bargaining under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

As part of the decision, Justice Markus Koehnen said Ontario has not explained why it was necessary to infringe on constitutional rights to impose wage constraints.

In a release issued Thursday, the union representing more than 68,000 registered nurses in Ontario said enough is enough, it’s time to stop attacking health-care workers and accept the decision.
