The Fire Department of North Huron, in partnership with the Owen Sound Police Service have launched Next Generation 911, a network aimed to provide increased public safety and emergency response.
In a statement the Township of North Huron says this will provide digital infrastructure for modern emergency telecommunications.
This will not have any change on those dialing 911, with the change providing more reliable help when people need it most.
Next Generation 911 includes more accurate caller location and phone number information, enhanced cybersecurity with added backup capabilities and the future ability to support real time texts and other digital technologies.
