The draft of a private tree preservation by-law for the Municipality of Kincardine will be heading to council next month for consideration.

The proposed by-law would require any person to obtain a permit from the municipality should they want to remove a tree from their property that is greater than 30 cm in diameter at breast height. Property owners would also be limited to removing five trees per year that are less than 30 cm in diameter.

Adam Weishar, Director Of Infrastructure and Development says the by-law should be ready for current council to vote on, before a new crop take over later this year.

The by-law should be on the agenda for the Oct. 17 meeting.

An online survey regarding the by-law is still open for another week, closing on Sept. 23.
