Goderich’s held one of the most successful pro hockey heroes charity games of the year on Sunday, raising over $5,000 in support of the local hospice.

The event pit members of the local fire department against former NHL stars like Larry Murphy, Bernie Nicholls, Gary Leeman and Seaforth native Dave McLlwain.

The tour is put together by Connect Marketing, who hold games all across Ontario, and organizers said this was one of the best attended events so far.

The good turnout benefit the Huron Residential Hospice in Clinton, who received $5,330 in proceeds from the game.

Christopher Walker, manager of fund development for the hospice says they’re grateful to all who showed up and that attendees were treated to an excellent afternoon of hockey.

“We really are thankful for the community for having come out to support us. And they got to see a great game, the Goderich Firefighters put on a fantastic show, they were right in it all the time.”
