Grey-Bruce Public Health is partnering up with local OPP detachments and municipal police services over the holidays to share potentially life saving information in recognizing and responding to an opioid overdose.
During RIDE programs run by the police, officers will be handing out cards created by public health on the signs of an overdose and the names of common types of opioids and share more about the Good Samaritan Act.
Monica Blair, Manager of Grey-Bruce Public Health’s Harm Reduction Program says the opioid crisis is a complex multi faceted issue which needs a multi level community response with everyone having a role to play to save lives, reduce opioid related harms and address the crisis.
