The Town of Saugeen Shores heard a Zoning By-Law Amendment Application in regards to a property at 102 Turner Street in Southampton.

The land at the intersection of Gosford and Turner Street is currently zoned planned development but will require flood proofing to be developed at the site as it is in a floodplain spill area.

One issue raised by Councillor Bud Halpin is the fact that owners of lands in the town seem to be removing trees on their properties and asking for forgiveness later.

Mayor Charbonneau advised Councillor Halpin that the removal of Trees on the subject property on Turner Street occurred before the property entered the planning process, so it was not subject to any protection provision.

The Town is looking at developing a tree canopy policy in the future to protect trees earlier.
