The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance is set to close the Wingham Emergency Department over the next two weekends due to staffing shortages.
This weekend it sees a closure over night Friday, Saturday and Sunday with it closing at 5pm and re-opening the next morning at 7am.
Then next weekend the department is set to close for the same hours closing at 5pm Friday, September 8th and re-open on the Saturday at 7am.
LWHA says that extensive efforts have been made to maximize the availability of emergency room services over the Labour Day weekend including providing consistent daytime hours.
Ambulances will divert patients in the area during the closures to the next open Emergency Department.
