Bruce Power is now able to generate more power from its nuclear facility.

President and CEO Mike Rencheck announced Thursday afternoon that output has been increased to 6,550 MW, up from 6,300 MW in 2016.

Rencheck was joined by Energy Minister Todd Smith along with Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson and Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker at the Bruce Power Visitor’s Centre in Tiverton for the announcement.

Rencheck says this is made possible through their life extension program.

Rencheck says Bruce Power will also be harvesting more medical isotopes that will help sterilize instruments and treat certain cancers.
